I bought this hand mixer for a present for my mother because she loves red Kitchenaid appliances. I saw the reviews and was hesitant, but decided to take a chance as this is what she loves. As many of the reviews said, there was a problem with the beater. When I put the beater up inside where it is supposed to go, the inner grabber for the beater went up inside the mixer and would not come back down. The beater would then not lock in and even when I pushed 'eject' the grabber stayed up inside the mixer. This was the newest model for their hand mixers so apparently nothing has changed. Good thing Amazon has easy returns as it is going back today!

This item is cute. I thought with "Kitchenaid" I couldn't go wrong. This is a wonderful beater. Does the job well with thinner batters. Unfortunately I like to make cake alot, like pound cake. The thickness of these batters is just a little too much for this little beater. It slows down and speeds up during use, and on the box it's called an "energy saver". Truth is, it just slows down in thick batter because there's not enough power to push the beaters! Felt like chanting "I think I can, I think I can"...
Bottom line, if you're looking for something to make cookie batter, dough, etc., this is not the toy for you.

when I purchased this it was to replace my old one my son gave me MANY years ago. That one still works; but, alas this new one does not. Those new touch button on/off switches are garbage. It went out on me. Not sure I want another one. Loved the color and the performance up to that time! Just not sure what to think now!
